Every allotment site has one and in our case, its Reuben!  You come along, fresh as the grass that you are about to turn over, green behind the ears and without a clue.  You enthusiastically get to work and then start to wonder why everyone else's seeds germinate and plants grow whilst yours, if you're lucky, are stunted and weak.  Then along comes Reuben.  Hi, he says, can I help?  Falling prostrate at his feet, you say, "Pleease!"  And then he gives you some tips and how to get a head start.
